The Brewers are back in action tonight in Oakland. Milwaukee has not officially named a starting pitcher but the A’s will send Chris Bassitt, 7-5, to the mound. First pitch is at 9:07 and you can hear the game on AM1100/98.3FM, WISS.
There was just one game in the N.L. Central on Monday as Cincinnati beat Pittsburgh 11-6. The Cubs and Cardinals are tied for first in the division while the Brewers are one game out.
Meanwhile, pitcher Jordan Lyles is heading back to the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee acquired the 28-year-old right-hander from Pittsburgh on Monday for pitching prospect Cody Ponce. Lyles was 1-0 with a 3.31 ERA in 11 appearances for the Brewers late last season, helping Milwaukee win the NL Central. He agreed to a $2.05 million, one-year contract with the Pirates and earned a rotation spot, going 5-7 with a 5.36 ERA. He won five of his first six decisions with Pittsburgh but has a 9.58 ERA in eight starts since May 28. Lyles was scheduled to start for Pittsburgh on Monday night against Cincinnati and was replaced by Alex McRae (0-2, 7.71). The Pirates are 2-14 since the All-Star break, falling out of contention. Ponce, a second-round pick in the 2015 amateur draft, is 1-3 with one save, 44 strikeouts and a 3.29 ERA in 27 appearances at Double-A Biloxi this season.
The Milwaukee Bucks have hired Chad Forcier as an assistant coach. Forcier (for-SEAR), who has 23 years of coaching experience in the NBA as an assistant coach, joins the Bucks after spending the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic for two seasons (2016-18) after spending nine seasons with the San Antonio Spurs from 2007-16.
Chase Buford has been named the new head coach of the Wisconsin Herd. Buford earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Kansas. The San Antonio, TX native played three collegiate seasons for Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame coach Bill Self. He appeared in 35 career games for the Jayhawks and was a member of the 2008 NCAA National Championship team.
After an off-day Monday, the Packers are back on the practice field today. Friday night is Family Night at Lambeau Field. Doors for the event will open at 5:30 and the team will be introduced on the field at 7:30. The format of this year’s Family Night will once again be a full practice, in order for the team to accomplish its preparation goals for the regular season.
Over the last 10 seasons, only seven FBS teams have won more than 100 games. Two of them, Alabama and Wisconsin, have signed a deal to play a home-and-home series in 2024 and 2025. The Crimson Tide will visit historic Camp Randall Stadium on Sept. 14, 2024 with the Badgers traveling to Tuscaloosa and Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sept. 13, 2025.
