The Brewers open the second half of the season at home tonight, hosting the Giants.   Chase Anderson, 4-2, will start for Milwaukee against San Francisco’s Shaun Anderson, 3-2.   First pitch is at 7:10 and the game can be heard on AM1100/98.3FM, WISS.

The Cubs lead the Brewers by a half-game in a tight Central Division while the Cardinals are two games back, the Pirates 2 ½ out and the Reds are 4 ½ games behind.

In the only game in the Majors last night, Texas blanked Houston 5-0.

Jim Bouton, the former New York Yankees pitcher who shocked and angered the conservative baseball world with the tell-all book “Ball Four,” has died. He was 80.  Bouton’s family said he died Wednesday at the Great Barrington home he shared with wife Paula Kurman. He fought a brain disease linked to dementia and was in hospice care. Bouton also had two strokes in 2012.

The 2019-20 Green Bay men’s basketball season starts in just under four months, and the program has announced its participation in the 2019 Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper along with additional nonconference games. The program is announcing the dates and opponents to 11 scheduled upcoming regular season games, with two more regular season games to be announced at a later date.  The Phoenix also play the Wisconsin Badgers on November 21st in Madison.  GB didn’t face Wisconsin this past season, but will play them as part of the Legends Classic this coming season.

The Wisconsin Glo, with their heavy UW-Green Bay Phoenix contingent, play their regular season home finale Saturday night.  With four former Phoenix on the roster, the Glo has yet to lose a game in this inaugural season — a perfect 10-0.  They play Flint on Saturday at the Menominee Nation Arena, then travel to Flint to close out the regular season at the end of the month.

The NBA’s most valuable player is suing a Pennsylvania artist who is selling “Greek Freak” merchandise. Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo registered his nickname with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last year. His lawyers sent a cease and desist letter to Jinder Bhogal in May. Bhogal removed the “Greek Freak” merchandise from his website, but not his Facebook page. A complaint says Bhogal’s merchandise was misleading customers who thought it was affiliated with Antetokounmpo. He is seeking all the profits Bhogal gained from selling the merchandise and/or $2 million for every counterfeit mark on goods sold. The Journal Sentinel says Antetokounmpo is asking for a jury trial in his lawsuit against Bhogal.

The Milwaukee Bucks have re-signed free agent All-Star forward Khris Middleton.  The 27-year old Middleton averaged 18.3 points and career-highs in both rebounds (6.0) and assists (4.3) per game last season and was an All-Star for the first time in his career. He shot 44.1% from the field and 37.8% from three, appearing and starting in 77 contests for the Bucks as they won an NBA-high 60 games. Middleton also started all 15 of Milwaukee’s playoff games during its run to the Eastern Conference Finals, averaging 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 43.5% from three.
