Two Boaters Rescued On Big Green Lake During Storms
28 June 2019 News
The thunderstorms and high winds that moved through the area yesterday afternoon prompted two rescue calls on Big Green Lake. Green Lake County Sheriff’s officials say they received a call about an overturned sailboat on the south shore at 4:18 pm. Turns out the 76-year-old Illinois man got caught up in the storm and spent about 10 minutes in the water before another boater picked him up. A short time later a call was received about a young man on a kayak who was not accounted for, but he was found safe a little after that. Deputies responded to both calls and neither of the men was injured. Winds during the storms were estimated at 50 to 60 miles an hour.
