An organization that was established in memory of a New York City firefighter who laid down his life on 9/11 will pay off the mortgage on the home of slain Appleton Firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard. The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation supports the families of first responders. To coincide with the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit at Celebrate Waupun this weekend the Foundation will pay off the Lundgaard family mortgage. Lundgaard was shot on May 15th while treating a man who had suffered a seizure in Appleton. Lundgaard died later at a hospital. The 36-year-old firefighter was a 14 year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department.
