Pedestrian Hit And Killed By Semi On Interstate 41 In Winnebago County

10 June 2019 News

A 24-year-old Oshkosh man was struck and killed by a semi-truck as he was walking on I-41 southbound south of State Highway 44 in Winnebago County early Sunday morning. Sheriff’s officials say it happened about 2:44 am as the man was walking in the travel lanes of the highway. The semi driver, a 55-year-old Van Dyne man, was not injured in the accident. He told investigators he tried to take evasive action and cooperated fully with the investigation. It is believed that neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor for the driver and no citations were issued.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office was further assisted by the Oshkosh Police Department, the Winnebago County Highway Department, and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. I-41 was closed for approximately 6 hours for the investigation and crash reconstruction.
