The restoration of the “House on the Hill” in Ripon is a labor of love for three generations of family. Haley Julian says recently they learned more about the deed to the property and it might have been owned by the Ripon man who helped found a new political party, which he called “Republican.” We found out that Alvin Bovay was actually one of the first owners of the property and quite honestly we think he may have started building the house. So that date our house to the mid-1850s.” The state recognizes the house at 121 Blossom Street as a historic property, but Julian says if the dates line up on the deed they found it could be eligible to be placed on the National Historic Register. As for future plans for it will have mixed uses with some retail on the lower level and on the upper level some long-term executive stay. Julian says they want to take it down to what it originally was in 1850 when it was built and then go from there.
