FDL Man Charged For Fight With Police Officers

8 May 2019 News

A 29-year-old Fond du Lac man is facing charges for a struggle he got into with police officers Sunday night. Fond du Lac Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says it happened during a traffic stop on West 2nd Street at Harrison Place. Three passengers got out of the vehicle and walked into a neighborhood residence despite an officer’s orders to stop. The officer stayed with the driver and called for additional assistance. One of passengers Steven Jones Jr. returned and when officers began to pat him down he grabbed at the officer’s waistband. He began to fight with officers and an officer deployed a taser to bring him under control. Two officers suffered scrapes and bruises during the struggle, but returned to duty immediately. Jones made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court Tuesday where he was charged with resisting an officer causing soft tissue injury and disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $300 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 24th.
