Fire destroyed Mabel Murphy’s bar in Oshkosh early Tuesday morning. Firefighters were dispatched to the corner of North Main Street and Irving Avenue shortly before 1:45 am. Fire department officials believe the fire started in apartments in an adjacent building and spread to the bar. The four apartment dwellers were able to get out safely. The building Mabel Murphy’s was in was built in the 1890s. Mabel Murphy’s owners were planning a 45th Anniversary celebration this weekend. Over the years it was popular with University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students. The cause of the blaze is being determined.
