Smart 911 Available In FDL County

Fond du Lac County took advantage of Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to introduce their new Smart911 service. Smart911 allows individuals to create a Safety Profile for their household at www.smart911.com or on the Smart911 App that includes any information they want 9-1-1 and responders to have in the event of an emergency. County Communications and Emergency Management Director Bobbi Hicken says if you have your profile in the system when you call 911 it will come up on the dispatcher’s monitor. “Once that phone call is made that information is only available to the responders for 45 minutes. So it’s not even that once you call your information is forever out there. It’s meant for us to assist you in that moment and that is it.” The Smart911 App is free and available on the Apple Store or Google Play.

Alzheimers Panel Discussion Filming In Ripon Well Attended

Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jason Mansmith tells us the taping of a panel discussion about Alzheimer’s held at the high school last week was well attended. It was hosted by John McGivern of Milwaukee PBS and featured a panel of five experts. People attending the filming had a chance to see how television works behind the scenes and ask the experts questions. “I think the great thing about that is the people who were in attendance got to see how a TV show is made, which you don’t necessarily always see the takes that go into it or the lighting changes that need to be made.” The show will air on Thursday, May 16th at 7 pm. McGivern also hosts the Around the Corner program, which did a segment on Ripon that recently aired on Milwaukee PBS and Wisconsin Public Television.
