FDL County Board Asking For New Redistricting Process

The Fond du Lac County Board passed a resolution Tuesday night asking the state legislature for enactment of a nonpartisan process for the preparation of legislative and congressional redistricting plans. The board passed a resolution that replaces the original resolution they considered in February. Supervisor Sam Kaufman told board members the original resolution concerned him because it could be perceived as partisan, which is not the board’s role. “My concern has always been that the county board as a nonpartisan body itself should always do its best to maintain that position in appearance in the public.” The vote to replace the original resolution was 21 to 1 and there was a similar vote to approve the resolution.
