Dodge County Drug Task Force Understaffed

The Dodge County Sheriff’s drug task force is understaffed. That is one of the conclusions in a preliminary report by an auditing firm assessing the Sheriff’s Department. That finding came to light during the County Board meeting this week. The report found the task force is “unsafe and is against best practices to conduct drug investigations.” Sheriff Dale Schmidt wants to convert a detective’s position on the task force to a sergeant’s position. The sergeant would have a supervisory role on the unit. County supervisors decided to hold off on any position changes on the drug task force until the assessment of the sheriff’s office is completed in August.
