Meeting Tonight About Release Of Violent Sex Offender In Winnebago County
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office will host an information meeting tonight about a violent sex offender that is being released into the community. The courts have ordered supervised release for 57-year-old Dwight Chouinard by Saturday. Chouinard will be living at 9510 Hopi Lane in Fremont. He will be on GPS monitoring. The meeting is at 6 pm this evening at the Wolf River Town Hall in Fremont. He sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl on multiple occasions in 1993. He also was convicted of fourth degree sexual assault in a Traverse City, Michigan case in 1979.
Amber Alert Issued For Milwaukee Girl
An Amber Alert has been issued for a 1-year-old Milwaukee girl Nolani Robinson. She was last seen Monday. The suspect is 34-year-old Dariaz Higgins, who also goes by Dariaz Taylor and Dariaz Lewis. He is armed and dangerous. He was last seen driving a 2014 black Cadillac with a Florida license plate. The plate number is HVC Z95.
Ripon Common Council Preview
The Ripon Common Council will consider approving bids for three projects. Those projects include resurfacing of North Union Street and Old Berlin Road, paving for multiple streets, and sidewalk maintenance. The Council will also discuss the Barlow Park Loop and what happens after April 1st. The Council meets at 7 pm at the Common Council Chambers.
Walleye Management Meetings
The state’s Department of Natural Resources will be hosting three public meetings in the next two weeks regarding management of the Winnebago System walleye. The meetings will be at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium in Oshkosh Wednesday, The Engler Center for Performing Arts in Chilton next Monday, and the Mosquito Hill Nature Center in New London, on Thursday, March 21st. Each of the meeting will run from 6 to 8 pm. DNR staff will share monitoring results from annual surveys, including the 2018 spring spawning stock and Lake Winnebago bottom trawling assessments.
FDL County Updating Hazard Mitigation Plan
Work continues to update Fond du Lac County’s hazard mitigation plan. The plan is being developed with funding assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). With this plan, the county has identified mitigation actions aimed at minimizing or eliminating long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards. Public input is requested on the draft plan. A public open house to present the draft plan, maps, and materials will be held Thursday, April 4tj from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Fond du Lac City/County Government Center on the first floor in Meeting Room H at 160 South Macy Street in Fond du Lac.
Milwaukee Hosting DNC
Milwaukee will be hosting the 2020 Democratic National Convention. Assembly Democratic Leader Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh said Monday, “This is a great day for Wisconsin. Our largest city hosting a convention of this magnitude is a game changer for our state. From tourism, to the positive economic impact on local businesses, this decision will have far reaching effects for the region and the state as a whole. “
