FDL County Judge Recuses Himself From Vehicular Homicide Case

A jury trial in Fond du Lac County for a 34-year-old North Fond du Lac man facing vehicular homicide charges will be rescheduled after the judge in the case recuses himself. The trial for Travis Wollersheim was postponed after Judge Gary Sharpe recused himself because of a conflict of interest. Sharpe had represented Wollersheim’s father at one point and served on a board with his mother. Wollersheim is facing two vehicular homicide charges for running into the back of a car in a construction zone in Fond du Lac on Interstate 41 on June 22nd, 2016. The crash killed a 26-year-old man and 8-year-old boy from Neenah. According to the criminal complaint Wolersheim was going 68 miles an hour when his SUV ran into the back of the car that was behind a stopped semi on I-41. The victims were passengers in the car he rear-ended.

Thirty Car Crash In Green Bay

Police in Green Bay say, “cold, windy, and slick” conditions led to a 30 vehicle crash that closed the Leo Frigo Bridge Tuesday morning. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-43. Northbound lanes were closed to give emergency vehicles better access to the scene. Injuries reported ranged from minor to serious, but no fatalities were recorded. The crash happened on the interstate where the bridge crosses over the Fox River.

Grothman On National Emergency Voting

Congressman Glenn Grothman says he supports President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to get a wall built on the U.S./Mexico border. The federal lawmaker says he toured the area and understands why the President considers it a national emergency. Congress didn’t authorize it and a Senate vote against it would set up the President’s first veto. Grothman still feels voting on the declaration was the right move. “We’ve had national emergencies under a bill that was passed under President Ford. I think over 30 so far they just didn’t make a big deal out of other ones. This is one that I think really is a national emergency Grothman is also disappointed Governor Tony Evers withdrew Wisconsin National Guard troops from the border. He says that’s something even President Obama saw a need for.

Measles More Of A Risk Than Its Vaccine

A pediatrician with ThedaCare says getting vaccinated against the measles is much safer than worrying about the vaccine. Dr. Sharon Rink says parents concerned about the vaccine and the risk to their children may be putting those children at bigger risk if those kids contract measles. “There was a post marketing study in Finland done and they followed people for several years and out of the 1.3 million or so that were vaccinated absolutely no one died from the vaccination, but a lot of people will die if measles comes into our state.” She recommends people doing research on the vaccination should also do research on the infection, which is much worse than the vaccination.

Referees Get Police Escort After Close Game In Hustisford

Former Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy isn’t the only one who has issues with High School Basketball referees in the state. A situation in the Dodge County community of Hustisford got blown out of proportion on social media. Four people were ejected during a close game between Hustisford and Catholic Central Saturday. The referees got a police escort back to the locker rooms and requested an escort out of town. Hustisford Schools Superintendent Heather Cramer says there were no altercations and no direct threats were made to the referees.
