Whiteout conditions played havoc for Sheriff’s deputies responding to traffic accidents Sunday. Two Sheboygan County squad cars were damaged in separate accidents while they were on the scene of accidents. Those deputies were not injured. The same scenario played out in Fond du Lac County on Interstate 41 while a deputy was responding to 3 vehicles that had gone into a ditch. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the deputy was in the squad and one of the drivers was in the back seat when another motorist hit them from behind. “All three people were actually injured and two of them including out deputy had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of those injuries.” In each case the squads had their emergency lights on. Waldschmidt says all three squads were totaled by drivers who didn’t see them because of weather conditions.
