Another Snow Day
Blowing and drifting snow led to the cancellation of schools, businesses and activities Tuesday. The National Weather Service reported snowfall totals ranging from 2.5 inches to more than 14 inches Tuesday as snow continued to fall overnight. Brandon reported 10 inches, Fond du Lac 9.8 inches of snow, Markesan 9 inches, Oshkosh 10, Ripon more than 9 inches, Redgranite had 12.9 inches of snow, Waupaca 14, Waupun received 8.5 inches of snow, and Wautoma 13.4 inches.
NFDL Man Charged For Dodge County High Speed Chase
A 29-year-old North Fond du Lac man who led Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase on Highway 151 made his initial court appearance this week. Mackenzie Rae Trosper was allegedly drunk when he drove over 130 miles an hour during the December 30th chase. According to the criminal complaint at the conclusion of the pursuit Trosper said he got off the highway to find a restroom that he was on his way to Illinois to see his dying grandmother and wasn’t the person they had been chasing. His blood alcohol level was allegedly nearly twice the legal limit. He’s facing an eluding charge and his second drunken driving offense. During the hearing he was released on a $1,000 signature bond and has a preliminary hearing on April 11th.
Another Deer Tests Positive For CWD
The state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has confirmed another case of chronic wasting disease in Wisconsin. The agency says a whitetail deer from a hunting ranch in Forest County recently tested positive. Both the ranch and a breeding farm in Marinette County, where the six-year-old buck had been before 2014, have been under quarantine since last June to prevent the spread of the disease.
Oshkosh School Board To Decide On Make Up Day
The Oshkosh Area School Board could make decisions tonight on how to absorb another day of school missed because of inclement weather. Tuesday was the fifth day missed because of winter weather this school year. The board had already decided to use next Monday a previously scheduled staff professional day to make up for cancellation of school on February 7th. The elementary and middle schools have built in time to make up for Tuesday, but the high schools will have to add in 7 minutes per day starting March 1st.
FDL County GOP Elects Executive Committee
The Republican Party of Fond du Lac County held their annual caucus last Thursday night at the KC Hall in Fond du Lac and re-elected Rhon Bishop as the county party’s chairman. Other members of the party’s Executive Committee include Vice Chairman Alan Ott, Treasurer Sam Kaufman, Secretary Jon Venhuizen, Sam Meyer, Eric Toney, LeeAnn Lorrigan, Dave Seif and Parade Float Chairman James Vander Bosch, Bishop says it was a disappointing election year in state wide races, but they did hit their vote totals in the county and helped re-elect Congressman Glenn Grothman.

For the ninth consecutive year, Moraine Park Technical College has made the Victory Media list of Military Friendly Schools for its commitment to serving student veterans. The Military Friendly Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide. The award recognizes the top colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide who embrace America’s veterans as students. This year 766 schools earned this prestigious designation.
