A Ripon resident was recently recognized by the Fond du Lac County Law Enforcement Association as Fond du Lac County “Citizen of the Year.” Ripon Police Captain Troy Damsteegt nominated Steve Davis for his outstanding service to the residents of Ripon and the rest of the county in 2018. Steve was instrumental in the equipment purchase and training of the drone program used by Ripon area emergency services. He donated a significant amount of time to the program, training pilots from both the police and fire departments. He has also worked extensively with the drone program to assist other agencies in the county by searching for lost people, surveying storm damage, and many other cases as well. The award was presented during an awards banquet at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fond du Lac this past Wednesday.
