Waupun Man Bound Over For Trial On Charge Stemming From Heroin Death

1 February 2019 News

A 40-year-old Waupun man suspected of purchasing the heroin that led to the overdose death of a 23-year-old Fond du Lac man has been bound over for trial. Anthony Buechel waived his preliminary hearing in Fond du Lac County court Thursday on a first degree reckless homicide charge. According to the criminal complaint Buechel, 38-year-old Cara Zech of Waupun and 47-year-old Julie Harr of Fond du Lac drove to Milwaukee last July where they purchased heroin including some for Steven Compton. Compton died of an overdose in the bedroom of his home the next day. Buechel was previously convicted for selling heroin. Harr was arraigned last month on a similar charge and bail jumping charges and pleaded not guilty. An arrest warrant was issued for Zech in December she is still at large.
