FDL Woman Arraigned On Charge Stemming From Beaver Dam Man’s Murder

A former Beaver Dam woman who allegedly had a role in the murder of a Beaver Dam man last Halloween was arraigned in Dodge County court Wednesday. Thirty-two-year-old Rebecca Wolc of Fond du Lac pleaded not guilty to harboring a felon charges. Wolc allegedly watched as 20-year-old Nigel Schultz of Portage shot 36-year-old Bradlee Gerke to death. Gerke’s body was found in a shallow grave is a cow pasture off Redwing Road in the Town of Lebanon. Schultz told investigators he had taken Gerke’s phone and Food Share Card and confessed to the shooting. Schultz will be arraigned on homicide and other charges on January 30th.

Sneak Peak Of Around The Corner Ripon Episode Well Attended

Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jason Mansmith was very pleased with the turnout at Vines and Rushes Winery last week for the premiere of the Around the Corner with John McGivern episode featuring Ripon. He notes there is seating for 200 there and it was standing room only. The Milwaukee PBS show airs on Wisconsin Public Television and is seen both nationally and internationally as well. “We were just completely blessed to have that opportunity. By the time it is all said and done the earned media that we garner from that is just unbelievable.” Mansmith says the program will bring in new guests and visitors that see it and provides a real spark.

Information Meetings Scheduled For Ripon Virtual School

Three meetings have been scheduled at the Ripon High School next month for those who would like to learn more about the Odyssey Academy of Virtual Learning, which will open next fall. The meetings are from 6 to 7 pm on February 4th, 3:30 to 5:30 pm on February 21st, and from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on February 25th. The district is using a $900,000 state grant to plan and implement the charter school. It will be a tuition-free 4K through 12th Grade School and will be project-based.

Congresman Grothman Holding Town Hall Meetings This Weekend

Congressman Glenn Grothman will be hold three town hall meetings this weekend in the 6th Congressional District. This afternoon he will be at the Kingston/Dalton Town Hall in Dalton from 1 to 2 pm and the Cambria Village Hall from 3 to 4 pm. On Sunday he will be at the Manitowoc Public Library from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.

Meetings Scheduled About Sturgeon Population

The state Department of Natural Resources will hold three meeting over the next two weeks to update the public on the status of the Lake Winnebago System sturgeon population. Results of a survey conducted with 2,000 sturgeon spearing license holders will be released and information shared on how those results will be used to draft a rule proposal for sturgeon spearing. The first meeting is scheduled in North Fond du Lac at the high school next Wednesday. On Tuesday, January 29th there will be a meeting at the Engler Center for the Performing Arts in Chilton and the final meeting is Thursday, January 31st at the Menasha High School Auditorium. Each of the meetings will run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
