Charges Could Be Referred In Incident Involving Waupun Girl
16 January 2019 News
Waupun Police Chief Scott Louden credits people following them on social media for helping them locate the mother of a two-year-old girl found sitting on the steps of a home in the 200 block of North Madison Street Monday morning. He says the girl was dressed and still warm so she wasn’t there for long. They had her checked out at Waupun Memorial Hospital and contacted a social worker. They posted the girl’s photo on Facebook and Louden says the photo was shared hundreds of times which helped them locate the mother. “We then went to social media posted a picture to see if anybody could identify her and approximately 37 minutes and close to 300 share later we were able to locate the guardian.” Louden says the woman was at work and her boyfriend was supposed to be looking after the girl. He says the investigation continues and might lead to charges being referred to the district attorney’s office.
