Unbelievable…..Aaron Rodgers while playing on one healthy leg, staged an unlikely comeback to help the Green Bay Packers defeat the Chicago Bears 24-23 at Lambeau Field on Sunday night.
Rodgers threw three touchdown passes in the second half after returning from a knee injury, and helped the Packers overcame a 20-point deficit. On the last one, Rodgers connected with receiver Randall Cobb for a catch-and-run through the secondary for a 75-yard touchdown and the go-ahead score with 2:13 left in the game. Cobb said he just had to run. The defense then held on.
After a Mason Crosby field goal on the Packers first drive of the second half, Rodgers connected on a 39 yard touchdown pass to Geronimo Allison and one of 12 yards to Davante Adams. The Bears then kicked a field goal to go up 23-17 before Rodgers connected with Cobb. On the night, he was 20 of 30 for 286 and three scores and a quarterback rating of 130.7. Cobb had nine catches for 142 yards, a career high.
His counterpart on the Bears, Mitch Trubisky was 23 of 35 for 171 yards.
Rodgers went out in the second quarter with an injured knee after being sacked by Bears defensive end Roy Robertson.
Chicago’s newly acquired linebacker Khalil Mack had a huge first half and finished with a pick six of backup quarterback Deshone Kizer along with three tackles a sack and a forced fumble…
The Packers host the 1-0 Vikings this Sunday.
The Brewers turned a one-run deficit into a three-run lead against Madison Bumgarner and the Giants in a tense sixth inning Sunday, punctuated by Jonathan Schoop‘s two-out grand slam that sent Milwaukee to a 6-3 win and a three-game sweep at Miller Park.
In the NL Wild Card standings, the Brewers remained comfortably in the top spot, 2 1/2 games ahead of the Cardinals and at least 3 1/2 games ahead of the rest of the field.
The Brewers open a three-game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field tonight. Wade Miley goes for Milwaukee against Chicago’s Jon Lester. First pitch is at 7:10.
