Slippery Roads And Speed Lead To Fatal Crash In Winnebago County
29 November 2018 News
Slippery roads led to the death of a 36-year-old Omro man on the I-41 northbound causeway that crosses over Lake Butte des Morts Thursday morning. Winnebago County Sheriff’s officials say it happened between Highway 45 and State Highway 21. He was in the far left lane when he lost control of his car. It spun out hitting a median barrier, re-entered the lanes of traffic, crossed all three lanes, and collided with a semi-tractor trailer. The Omro man died at the scene. The semi-driver, a 48-year-old Iron Mountain Michigan man, was not hurt. Sheriff’s officials say the Omro man lost control due to speed and slippery road conditions. The accident was reported shortly after 3:30 am.
