Fond du Lac County supervisors unanimously passed the County’s 2019 Budget and a five-year capital improvements plan last night. The budget includes a $44.4 million tax levy, which breaks down to a tax rate of $5.93 per thousand dollars of valuation on a property a decrease of 14 cents from this year. Finance Committee Chair Marty Ryan told the County Board it is a fiscally responsible budget that will allow the county to maintain services it provides for county residents. He also said it includes money for the Sheriff’s Department to hire three new deputies to man the security post that will be going in at the north end of the City-County Government Center in Fond du Lac. Ryan also pointed out it includes a 2.25 percent raise in pay for county employees the highest increase since 2010. That will help the employees pay for their share of an increase in health care insurance premiums.
