Ripon ushers in the Christmas season with “Christmas in the Village” today and tomorrow. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with residents at Mugs Coffeehouse from 6 to 8 pm tonight and 2 to 4 pm Saturday. Ripon Main Street Manager Craig Tebon says the Clauses usually find a unique way of arriving for the event and that will certainly be the case this evening. “They are always very gracious in how they work with us and if everything goes as planned he’s going to be in the bucket truck, in the ladder truck for the Fire Department and they will usher him into the downtown Friday night.” There will also be carriage rides downtown and stores will be open until 8:30 tonight. Saturday stores will be open until 5 pm. The Holiday Express will be at Horicon Bank from 10 am to 2 pm and there will be live reindeer in the 200 block of Watson Street from 11 am to 2 pm. Carriage rides will be from 2 to 4 Saturday afternoon.
