FDL County Board Tackles Questions About Marijuana Use

31 October 2018 News

Fond du Lac County supervisors took two different positions on the use of marijuana last night. Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution asking the state legislature to study the merits of medical marijuana, but voted 16 to 8 against putting an advisory referendum on the April ballot. The referendum would have asked voters if marijuana should be legalized for regulated use by adults, whether it should be legalized for medical use or whether it’s use, sale and possession should remain a crime. Supervisor Lisette Aldrich who was one of the sponsors of the resolution said she isn’t a fan of marijuana, but felt it was an opportunity to hear from the community. The resolution for the referendum barely passed in the public safety committee, but was overwhelmingly defeated by the Board of Health before it went to the full board for consideration.
