Anonymous Donation Made On Behalf Of The Ripon Public Library

Ripon Mayor Gary Will kicked off Monday night’s Common Council budget meeting by announcing an anonymous donation on behalf of the library. Will said $15,000 had been given with $5,000 earmarked to keep the library open for its current hours on Sundays and the rest to prevent further cuts for the library in the 2019 city budget. Will told the Council they could then use $15,000 they were going to use from cuts from the library on other budget items. The Council decided to spend $6,000 to maintain a bulky waste drop off program and over $5,200 to keep a community service officer position in the police department. The remaining $3,000 plus dollars will go into a contingency fund. The Council approved a preliminary budget and set a public hearing for the budget for 6:30 pm on November 13th.
