Three Injured In Crash Involving FDL County Sheriffs Squad Car

The State Patrol has released more information about a traffic crash in Fond du Lac County involving a Jeep Wrangler and a County Sheriff’s squad car. The squad car was behind a dump truck late Monday morning with both heading north on Highway 45 and both were turning left into separate driveways of a business. The Jeep, which was southbound, passed the dump truck as it made a turn and the squad car turned in front of it. Flight for Life flew Detective Pete Vergos to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries. He was released on Tuesday. Detective Ryan Murphy who was in the squad car with him and the driver of the Jeep, Jeffrey Kirsch of Fond du Lac, were both taken to St. Agnes Hospital where they were treated and released. Vergos and Murphy are both from Fond du Lac.

Three people were hurt including two on duty Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s detectives in a two-vehicle crash on Lakeshore Drive north of Silver Street in the Town of Friendship late Monday morning. Sheriff’s officials say Flight for Life flew the detective driving the Sheriff’s squad car to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries. He was kept there last night. The driver of the other vehicle and the detective who was a passenger in the squad car where taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac where they were treated and released. The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the accident that happened at 11:54 Monday morning.
