Special Legislative Session For Kimberly-Clark Incentive Package

There will be a special session of the State Legislature next month to vote on a tax incentive package to keep a Kimberly-Clark plant in Fox Crossing open. The State Assembly approved the package earlier this year, but it still needs Senate approval. Legislative leaders called for the extraordinary session, which will begin on November 12th. There will be a public hearing and a vote later in November. Governor Walker says, “My message to Kimberly-Clark employees is simple: we are fighting for you. We are working together to keep your jobs in Wisconsin.” It’s estimated the incentive package is worth about $100 million.

Dalton Water System Abandoned

Residents of Dalton in Green Lake County are dealing with supplying their own private wells after a public water system was abandoned at the beginning of the month. The 50-year-old water system wasn’t compliant with the standards set by the Department of Natural Resources and officials estimate it would have taken 5 to 10 years and over $1.5 million to become compliant. Rather than seeing their water bills increase by an average of more than 150 percent the majority of the nearly 60 property owners affected by the shutdown voted to abandon the system. But that won’t be cheap either with the cost of putting in a private well estimated at more than $16,000. Residents were informed of the coming change months ago.

The child’s mother told police she lives with Anderson, and admitted she and Anderson use marijuana together. It’s believed the baby ate marijuana that was dropped on the floor. Investigators found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in their apartment. Anderson will be back in court next Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

The bridge will be locked in the down position from October 15th through late November. Bridge tenders will not have the ability to open the bridge during that time frame.
