Eighteen Arrested For Drunken Driving During Drive Sober

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 18 people for driving under the influence during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement effort. The initiative ran from August 17th through Labor Day, September 3rd. Officers also issued citations for 23 safety belt violations, 152 speeding, and 43 operating after revocation or suspension violations. Twenty-seven people were also arrested for drugs. Chief Deputy Ryan Waldschmidt says the goal is to deter people from driving drunk, but if they have to they will arrest them. In addition to the Sheriff’s Department, police departments from Fond du Lac, North Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Rosendale, Brandon-Fairwater, Waupun, Campbellsport, and the Town of Ripon participated in the campaign.
