Fondy Man Charged With Making A Bomb Threat
A 22-year-old Fond du Lac man is facing a felony charge in Dodge County Court for allegedly threatening to blow up the Fox Lake company he works for. A Sheriff’s deputy investigated the threat at Karavan Trailers last month. According to the criminal complaint Juan Gonzalez allegedly warned two other employees not to come back to work the next day because he was going to blow up the building. A human resources official for the company got wind of the conversation and reported it to the deputy. Workers who had the conversation with Gonzalez told the deputy he seemed serious when he made the threat. Gonzalez later admitted to making the statements, but said he was joking and thought the other employees understood that. He makes his initial court appearance on the bomb scare charge on September 17th.
Marijuana Referendum Will Not Be On FDL County Ballot
Fond du Lac County voters won’t be voting in November on a referendum on whether to legalize the use of marijuana. The Fond du Lac County Board decided this week to send the resolution creating an advisory referendum to the Board of Health and Public Safety Committee due to health and law enforcement implications. Board Chairman Marty Farrell says the resolution was sponsored by two supervisors and had no vetting in committees before it went to the board. At the Board’s meeting this week members of the public spoke for and against the legalization of marijuana, but Farrell says the board is simply deciding whether to hold a referendum on it. He says legalizing marijuana is something only the state legislature can do. The earliest that referendum could be placed on a Fond du Lac County ballot now is next February.
Governor Asks For Expansion Of Interstate 41 In The Fox Valley
Governor Scott Walker is asking the state’s Department of Transportation to evaluate expanding the Interstate 41 corridor in the Fox Valley between Appleton and DePere. Walker says his request comes after he spoke with community leaders and elected officials about the importance of I-41 to the continued growth of northeastern Wisconsin. The DOT’s analysis could result in a request to approve the entire corridor, or portions of the corridor, for environmental study as a potential major highway project.
