Winnebago County Deaths Ruled Murder Suicide

Investigators have concluded that the shooting deaths and fire at a home in the 3300 block of Breezewood Lane in Winnebago’s Town of Clayton in May were the result of a murder-suicide. Sheriff’s officials say 38-year-old Jeremy Wallenfang shot and killed 27-year-old Ashley Mielke, set fire to the house, then shot himself. Witnesses told investigators that in the months prior to the incident Wallenfang had told others he was going to kill Mielke and burn the house to the ground. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, County Coroner’s Office, and state of Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation partnered in investigating the deaths.
