Highway Could Be Named After Late State Senator
Governor Scott Walker would like to see the I-41/U.S.10/Wisconsin 441 interchange named after late State Senator Mike Ellis. The interchange was completed earlier this summer. Walker says it would be a fitting tribute for a man who contributed so much to his community and his state. Ellis served in the state legislature for more than 45 years, the majority of that in the State Senate. Walker will include the name designation in the next budget or sign a bill the state legislature would create to name the intersection after Ellis. He talked about the proposal while gathered with other officials in Neenah Tuesday to remember Ellis who passed away last month at the age of 77.
Stop The Bleed Training
The Ripon Area School District, Ripon Medical Center, and Ripon Guardian Ambulance Service will participate in “Stop the Bleed” training at the Ripon High School Thursday. The Stop the Bleed campaign was launched by the White House in 2015 in response to the massacre three years earlier at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Ripon Schools Superintendent Mary Whitrock says the training is very important for their staff. She says, “Our hope is that everyone will connect pressure, packing and tourniquet with crisis first aid just as readily as we connect stop, drop and roll with fire safety.” Approximately 55 support staff members: office staff, custodians, instructional aides, special education aides, specialists and counselors will take the training.
