Man Who Threatened Ripon City Officials Back In Court
The 73-year-old Ripon man who allegedly threatened to shoot Ripon city officials over a property dispute will be back in court for a preliminary hearing this afternoon. The threat was made to an official with the Governor’s Office when David Zeatlow tried to get that office to intervene and block the razing of his home. Ripon Police Chief Bill Wallner says they have to take those types of threats seriously these days. Police limited access to City Hall and provided extra patrols for the safety of Mayor Gary Will, City Administrator Lori Rich, and City Attorney Lud Wurtz. Zeatlow’s home has since been torn down because of the shape it was in and complaints from neighbors.

The caller had threatened an arrest warrant had been issued for him and if he didn’t pay he would be arrested. He purchased $1,500 worth of Google Play gift cards at the Walmart in Beaver Dam and sent them to the scammer. Police remind residents the IRS would not make a phone call and ask to be paid in gift cards.
