BD Man Sentenced To Prison For Hitting And Killing Teen
A 23-year-old Beaver Dam man who struck and killed a teen on Dodge County Highway G nearly three years ago has been sentenced to two years in prison and four years of extended supervision. Lucas Jaeger was walking with a group of friends near the shoulder of the road in the Town of Lowell when Cody Buechel crossed the centerline, went into the opposite ditch and hit Jaeger head-on. Buechel told Sheriff’s investigators he was reaching for a soda at the time, but later admitted he inhaled fumes from a cleaning product before he drove. State lab testing did not show any chemicals in his blood. Buechel was ordered to pay more than $15,000 in restitution.
FDL Man Charged With Credit Card Fraud
A 30-year-old Fond du Lac man has been charged with credit card fraud for using his wife’s credit card numbers to make $360 in purchases. According to the criminal complaint Walter Hatcher got permission from his wife to use her credit card information to buy a Domino’s Pizza while he was in Alabama, but he continued to purchase pizza and other items from Domino’s after that with her information. The woman, who lives in Ripon, filed a complaint with the Ripon Police Department. Hatcher will make his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County Court on the misdemeanor charge on October 30th.
Waupun School Board Vacancy
There is a vacancy on the Waupun School Board. School board member Glen Wilson recently resigned. Any City of Waupun residents who are interested in the seat are asked to submit a letter of interest, biography, and resume to District Administrator Steve Hill. The deadline to apply is noon on Friday August 10th. The person appointed to the board will begin serving on it during their August 27th meeting. The seat comes up for election next April.
Campbellsport School District Receives Safety Grant
The Campbellsport School District is among the latest school districts and schools to receive a school safety grant. The district will receive over $84,000 to make safety improvements. State Attorney General Brad Schimel recently announced school safety grants for 23 school and school districts.
