Motorcyclist Injured In Separate Accidents In Dodge County
Dodge County Sheriff’s officials say two motorcyclist were injured in two separate crashes on Highway 151 near State Highway 33 Sunday night. A group of four sport-bike type motorcycles were traveling south in a group when two of them collided. One rider was ejected and was lying in the left traffic lane. The other pulled to the right shoulder and walked into traffic and was struck by a minivan that was trying to avoid the first crash. Both motorcyclists were taken to an area hospital. One was later flown to another facility with critical injuries. The other was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The other two motorcyclists couldn’t be located.
Witnesses To Dodge County Pursuit Sought
Sheriff’s officials in Dodge County are looking for witnesses to a vehicle chase that occurred on State Highway 33 near County Highway AY in the Town of Herman Sunday night. A Sheriff’s Lieutenant had pulled over a vehicle for excessive speed. As the Lieutenant approached the car the officer could smell the odor of drugs and then the driver took off. The pursuit lasted less than a mile culminating when the suspect’s vehicle went off the road and got stuck in a field. Fleeing and other charges are being requested against the driver. Innovation Highlighted At EAA AirVenture Today
All things innovative will be highlighted at EAA AirVenture today. Some of the highlights include the Lindbergh Innovation Forum from 9 am to Noon at the Aviation Gateway Park Forum Tent. Also at the tent from 1 to 2 pm there will be an Innovation Trends in General Aviation Avionics Executive Roundtable. Finally at 8 pm at the Theater in the Woods its An Evening with Innovators featuring the Founder’s Innovation Prize. The competition, presented by Airbus, highlights the top five 2018 entries in a “Shark Tank”-style format. The winner receives a cash prize of $25,000. More School Safety Grants Announced
State Attorney General Brad Schimel recently announced another round of school safety grants that will be going to 89 schools and school districts. Among the local schools and school districts receiving the grants are Lourdes Academy of Oshkosh, which is getting more than $34,000, the Princeton School District will get $21,500, and the Rosendale-Brandon School District is receiving over $132,000 to make safety improvements.
Hometown Safety Grants Awarded
Two area communities were among 12 communities to receive grants through the Alliant Energy Foundation’s Hometown Safety program. The Lomira Fire Department and the Town of Oakfield are each receiving a $1,000 grant. The Town is using theirs to purchase an AED or Automatic External Defibrillator. Hometown Safety Grants are awarded for specific, one-time, safety-related projects that benefit a wide range of people.
