Fire Damages Home In The Town Of Oshkosh
Firefighters from the Town of Oshkosh, Neenah, and Vinland Fire Departments responded to a house fire at 5235 Killdeer Lane in the Town of Oshkosh Wednesday evening. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Scott Rollo says residents were able to safely get out of the home. He says, “Upon arrival occupants of the residence had been evacuated. At this time the investigation is ongoing with the fire department.” Lieutenant Rollo says they were dispatched to the fire shortly after 7:30 Wednesday night.
Dodge County Woman Trampled By Bull
A Dodge County woman was seriously injured when she was trampled by a bull at a Town of Clyman farm Wednesday. Authorities responded to the farm on Train Road when the owner 57-year-old Tena Borchardt was found by a family member in the cow yard. No one witnessed the incident so officials don’t know how long she lay injured. Borchardt managed to get herself out of the area were the bull was. Flight For Life flew her to Aurora Summit Hospital.
Settlement Will Lead To Lower Rates For MG&E Customers
Under a far-reaching settlement negotiated by Madison Gas & Electric, the Citizens Utility Board and other energy stakeholders electric bills for customers of MG&E are poised to fall. Under terms of the agreement MG&E’s electricity costs will drop by about two percent, or more than $7 million in 2019 and remain at that lower level in 2020. Citizens Utility Board of Wisconsin Executive Director Tom Content says, “Bringing costs down is critical for customers in Wisconsin. Where power rates consistently rank in the top 15 in the country.”
Green Lake County Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep Scheduled
If you need to safely dispose of any hazardous waste products, the Green Lake County Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep is scheduled for August 10th from 11 am to 5 pm. The Clean Sweep will be held at the Green Lake County Fairgrounds, at 570 South Street in Green Lake. Disposal of chemical items is free. That will include garden products, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, waste oil, poisons, paint-related products, and similar items. There is a set fee for disposal of e-waste items including window air conditioners, computer components, TVs, office equipment, and others. For a nominal fee tires can also be dropped off at the event. White goods – refrigerators, freezers, and stoves – will not be accepted. General Transportation Aid Payments Sent Out
Fond du Lac County received $1.1 million from the state in general transportation aid when quarterly payments were sent out last week. Dodge County got more than $1.4 million and Green Lake County nearly $403,000. The City of Fond du Lac received approximately $439,000 and Ripon more than $100,000. The City of Berlin got $85,000 and Green Lake $36,000. Some cities also received connecting highways payments as well. Overall nearly $146 million in quarterly aid payments were sent out to local governments.
Music Fills The Grandstand At The FDL County Fair This Weekend
Country and Christian Rock will take to the Grandstand at the Fond du Lac County Fair the next two nights. Country Music star Jon Pardi will entertain on the Grandstand tonight at 8 pm. He has two studio albums out and eight of his singles have charted on the country music charts. Performing Saturday night on Grandstand is Skillet a Christian Rock band. Their performance will also start at 8 pm.
