The NBA All-Star Game is Sunday night in Oakland.  After a five-year absence, guard Damian Lillard will play. Tipoff is at 7:00.

The 16th ranked Wisconsin Badgers are at #7 Purdue in a huge Big Ten matchup on Saturday. The Boilermakers are 19-5 overall and 11-3 in the conference and coming off at two-point loss at #20 Michigan on Tuesday. Wisconsin is 18-5 and 9-4 in the Big Ten. Tipoff is at noon.

The Daytona 500, otherwise known as the Great American Race or the Super Bowl of Stock Car racing will be held Sunday in Daytona Beach, Florida. Kyle Busch is the favorite to win the race but a number of other top racers will have their say, including Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano and others. The race is scheduled to start at 1:30 CT.

A Texas man is filing a class action lawsuit against the Green Bay Packers over the data breach of the Packers Pro Shop website.

Brian Garcia, who filed the lawsuit in Brown County Court last Friday, argued in court documents that the Packers failed, “to properly secure and safeguard Private Information that was entrusted to it, and its accompanying responsibility to store and transfer that information.”

In a letter to customers, the Packers said they were alerted to the presence of malicious code inserted on the Pro Shop website on October 23, 2024. After an investigation, they learned that an unauthorized third-party may have accessed certain sensitive personal information of the consumers entered at the checkout on the website between September 23 and September 24, 2024, and October 2 and October 23, 2024.

The type of sensitive information included name, mailing address, email address, and credit card information.

Packers failed to take precautions designed to keep its customers’ private information secure. Garcia also argues that the Packers provided little information regarding how the data breach occurred.

Garcia filed the lawsuit as a class action complaint, so that others may be permitted to join the suit. In January the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said around 8,514 people were impacted by the data breach.

The Packers have declined comment.

Aaron Rodgers’ disappointing two-year stint with the New York Jets is over. And the team’s only Super Bowl trophy is still standing by itself.

The Jets announced Thursday they told the 41-year-old quarterback they are moving on without him next season.

While Rodgers hasn’t said whether he intends to continue playing for a 21st NFL season, the Jets — with new general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn in charge — have officially ruled out a return to New York.

In a joint statement issued by the team, Mougey and Glenn said they met with Rodgers last week and informed him “that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback.”

The four-time MVP, who’s the fifth player in NFL history to throw 500 touchdown passes in the regular season, has one year left on his contract, worth a non-guaranteed $37.5 million.

It was another slow day of sturgeon spearing.

Spearers took a total of 31 fish from the Winnebago system, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Of those, 20 were speared on Lake Winnebago: three juvenile females, nine adult females and eight males. Another 11 were speared on upriver lakes Poygan, Winneconne and Butte des Morts: three adult females and eight males.

DNR officials say spearers continue to report poor water clarity on Lake Winnebago’s east side, especially in southeast locations. As a result, the registration station at Pipe will remain closed on Friday.

Four sturgeon tipped the scales at more than 100 pounds, led by Luke Harness’ 148.3-pound, 79.5-inch female speared on Lake Winnebago.

Spearing on the upriver lakes is expected to go at least into the beginning of the weekend. The closest spearers are to a harvest cap is adult males on the upriver lakes, where spearers have reached 64% of the harvest cap. Reaching 90% triggers an automatic season closure the following day, while reaching 100% triggers an immediate closure.

Spearers on Lake Winnebago are less than 50% toward any of the harvest caps.
