Damian Lillard had 29 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds and the Milwaukee Bucks overcame travel issues to beat the Miami Heat 125-96 on Thursday for their fifth straight victory.

Lillard had appeared to get his fourth career triple-double before leaving with 3:57 remaining, but the 10th rebound that had been credited to Lillard was changed.

The start was pushed back an hour due to the Bucks’ troubles getting out of New Orleans, which had a historic snowstorm Tuesday. The Bucks’ scheduled Wednesday game with the Pelicans was postponed, and their plane arrived in Milwaukee less than three hours before the start Thursday.

Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo had 25 points and 12 rebounds. Gary Trent Jr. scored a season-high 21 points and shot 7 of 10 on 3-point attempts.

Kel’el Ware had 22 points and 10 rebounds for Miami. Tyler Herro had 21 points and nine assists.

Miami’s Jimmy Butler began serving a two-game suspension for what the Heat described as a “continued pattern of disregard of team rules, insubordinate conduct and conduct detrimental to the team.”

The Bucks trailed 18-3 midway through the first quarter. But they still exceeded 120 points for a fifth straight game.

The Bucks begin a four-game trip at the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

Plans are in motion for the Green Bay Packers’ annual Tailgate Tour around Wisconsin.

On Thursday, the Packers released details about the 2025 tour, including the dates, locations and featured players and alumni.

From April 8-12, running back Josh Jacobs, tight end Tucker Kraft and defensive end Lukas Van Ness will travel the state with President/CEO Mark Murphy aboard a customized Green Bay Packers-themed motor coach to visit with fans and thank them for their support.

Also joining the tour are several alumni players — Ahman Green, Jermichael Finley and John Michels.

The schedule for the Tailgate Tour is as follows:

• Milwaukee on April 8

• Madison on April 9

• La Crosse on April 10

• Wausau on April 11

• Green Bay on April 12

Officials say the tour will feature “a variety of surprise and planned visits” to be held in each area.

Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow, Jared Goff and Lamar Jackson are finalists for The Associated Press 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player award.

Barkley, Burrow and Jackson also are finalists for Offensive Player of the Year and Burrow is also in the running for Comeback Player of the Year.

The winners will be announced at NFL Honors on Feb. 6. A nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league completed voting before the playoffs began.

Former Badgers Zack Baun, and T.J. Watt were nominated for NFL Defensive Player of the Year

Eagles linebacker Zack Baun went from mostly playing special teams for the Saints to earning All-Pro honors in his first season in Philadelphia. Baun is a graduate of Brown Deer High School and the University of Wisconsin.

Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt, the 2021 winner, had 11 1/2 sacks and forced six fumbles. Watt is a graduate of Pewaukee High School and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.

It now appears it’s a question of when, not if, Carlos Beltrán will be voted into the Hall of Fame. In fact, next year could be his time, with the ballot wide open.

Ichiro Suzuki, C.C. Sabathia and Bill Wagner were elected in voting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced Tuesday night. Beltrán fell 19 votes short of the needed 75% for induction.

It was only Beltrán’s third year on the ballot — the maximum is 10 — so the graceful outfielder is in good shape to make it eventually. And next year should work in his favor because there probably won’t be any first-ballot inductees. Cole Hamels and Ryan Braun are expected to headline the newcomers.
