19 January 2025 News
Update:
Fond du Lac Police this morning arrested a 19-year-old Menasha man suspected of setting a fire at 525 North Peters Avenue which has office space leased to Congressman Glenn Grothman. Police Chief Aaron Goldstein says, “We are relieved that no one was injured, and the office was unoccupied at the time of the fire.” At approximately 1:02 am, officers along with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue responded to a possible structure fire at that address. Officers used fire extinguishers to hold the fire in check until fire units arrived and extinguished the fire. The fire had extended inside the exterior wall and fire crews cut open the wall to stop the fire from spreading further. There was moderate damage to the exterior of the building and minor damage to the interior. Officers found the Menasha teen near the strip mall. He admitted to starting the fire in response to recent talks of a TikTok ban. He is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail and a charge of arson is being referred to the District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is in its preliminary stages.
