30th Annual FDL County Breakfast On The Farm
24 June 2018 News
Sunday was a big day for the Envision Greater Fond du Lac Agri-Business Council as they celebrated their 30th annual Breakfast on the Farm. Bill and Tammy Wiese hosted the breakfast on their 400 plus acre farm on County Highway M in Rosendale. More than 4,000 people attended. Celebrity helpers worked the serving line. State Senator Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac ladled out scrambled eggs. He says, “It is all about promoting agriculture here in Wisconsin, America’s Dairyland keeping one of our number one industries going. We got to take pride in everything we can and Dairy is one of them.” Brenda Gudex is Envision’s Director of Agricultural Programs. She says in honor of the 30th anniversary of the breakfast they held a sort of reunion with as many of the hosts of the past breakfasts as they could, which was challenging because some of them still have working farms. She says, “Some of them still have current farming operations and its great weather today so they are at home trying to get their farming work done.” Gudex says Fond du Lac County’s celebration of June Dairy Month actually dates back to 1967 in some form. That year the County hosted the Alice in Dairyland finals.
