Packers rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper has won his 2nd NFC Defensive Player of the Week award.
In Cooper’s return from a hamstring injury Sunday in Seattle, he had an interception, sack, 7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, and another pass breakup as well.
Cooper becomes the first Green Bay rookie to win this award two times, and just the 2nd packer overall with two defensive player of the week awards in the same season (Clay Matthews in 2010 being the other).
The young linebacker previously earned player of the week honors after a strip-sack, PBU, and 8 tackles in a win at Jacksonville.
In Thursday Night Football the Broncos are at the Chargers. Denver is 9-5 while L.A. is 8-6 in the AFC West as they battle it out for playoff spot.
Kam Jones scored 23 points and No. 9 Marquette committed just two turnovers in an 80-70 victory over Butler on Wednesday night in the Big East opener for both teams.
Marquette (10-2, 1-0) had its lowest turnover total since Jan. 8, 2011, when it also had two turnovers in an 89-81 loss at Pittsburgh, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
David Joplin and Stevie Mitchell scored 15 points each for Marquette, which rallied from a 35-32 halftime deficit.
The Golden Eagles bounced back three nights after squandering a 13-point lead in a 71-63 loss at Dayton.
Butler (7-5, 0-1) lost its fourth straight despite shooting 51.1% from the floor.
Jahmyl Telfort and Kolby King scored 16 points each for Butler. Patrick McCaffery had 13.
Both teams play Saturday, with Butler hosting No. 11 UConn and Marquette visiting Xavier.
The Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District (the District) has voted to approve a new lease agreement for American Family Field, ensuring the Milwaukee Brewers and MLB remain in Wisconsin through 2050.
Wednesday’s vote comes just over a year after Gov. Evers signed 2023 Wisconsin Act 40 and 41 to keep the Brewers and MLB in Wisconsin through 2050. “This is a home run, and it’s a great day to be a Wisconsinite and a Brewers fan. I am incredibly proud of the good, bipartisan work that has gone into getting to today to ensure future generations of Wisconsinites can grow up rooting for our home team,” Gov. Evers said. “The Brewers have long been a critical part of our history and our heritage in Wisconsin with billions of dollars in annual economic impact and hundreds of local, family-supporting jobs. This is our crew!”
Since opening its doors in 2001 as the previously named Miller Park, the ballpark has generated $2.5 billion in total economic output for the state. In 2022 alone, the ballpark supported 3,000 jobs. The Brewers and American Family Field also supports more than 1,100 union jobs.
Gov. Evers first announced the initial proposal in February 2023 as part of his 2023-25 biennial budget proposal toward ensuring the Brewers remain in Milwaukee.
Without an investment from the state, the District would not have had the resources to meet the contractual and legal obligations necessary to maintain and update American Family Field, posing the risk of Wisconsin losing the Brewers and its only MLB team.
