These final three regular-season games give the Packers an opportunity to keep applying that pressure as they get ready for the playoffs. Although the Packers haven’t yet clinched a postseason berth, NFL Next Gen Stats gives them a playoff probability of greater than 99%.
The Packers (10-4) host the Saints (5-9) in Monday Night Football.
Green Bay’s victory at Seattle showed the Packers’ pass-rushing capabilities. Six players combined for those seven sacks.
One came from Rashan Gary, who has rebounded from a slow start and now has four sacks over his last five games. Enagbare had one dominant series in which he sacked Howell twice and limited him to a 2-yard rush to force a three-and-out.
Offensively, the Packers scored touchdowns on each of their first two series and had field goals on each of their next two drives to take a 20-3 lead against the Seahawks. The Packers rushed for 140 yards. The Packers have allowed just one sack over their last three games. The defense allowed just one touchdown, and that came after Josh Jacobs fumbled to allow Seattle to begin a drive at Green Bay’s 45-yard line.
Wide receiver Romeo Doubs had two touchdown catches in his return from a concussion that sidelined him for two games. On his 13-yard touchdown in the first quarter, Doubs dragged defenders the last few yards into the end zone. On his 22-yard score in the fourth quarter, Doubs made an outstanding play by diving and catching the ball just before it touched the ground.
Defensively, LB Edgerrin Cooper set up Doubs’ second touchdown with an interception and also had a sack in his return from a hamstring injury that kept him out for three games.
There were two games in Monday Night Football.
The Vikings won at home over the Bears 30-12 to up their record to 12-2 in the NFC North and into a first place tie with the Lions. The Bears drop to 4-10.
Sam Darnold completed 24- of 40 passes for 231 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Aaron Jones rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown and wide receiver Justin Jefferson caught 7 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown..
Bears’ quarterback Caleb Williams was 18 for 31 for 191 yards and a touchdown to Keenan Allen.
In the second game the Falcons hung on for a 15-9 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas. Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins was 11-17 for 112 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Bijan Robinson rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Las Vegas quarterback Desmond Ridder was 23 of 39 for 208 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. The Raiders managed just 65 yards rushing.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Khris Middleton missed practice Monday because of illness, leaving his status for the NBA Cup final against the Oklahoma City Thunder somewhat unclear.
The Bucks and Thunder play for the Cup on Tuesday night.
Middleton has played in only four games so far this season, averaging 7.0 points, 5.8 assists and 3 rebounds in those contests. He missed the Bucks first 21 games while recovering from offseason surgeries on each of his ankles.
The Bucks also practiced Monday without guard Damian Lillard, who irritated a calf in Saturday’s semifinal win over Atlanta but finished the game. Lillard said the injury was not serious and he would play.
Tennessee held onto No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for the second consecutive week, though No. 2 Auburn closed the gap as the top five remained unchanged in the men’s college basketball poll Monday.
Tennessee is among five unbeatens left in men’s Division I basketball and one of three from the Southeastern Conference, joining No. 7 Florida (10-0) and No. 14 Oklahoma (10-0). Drake (9-0) and Utah State (10-0) also enter this week undefeated.
Auburn improved to 9-1 with its 91-53 blowout of Ohio State in Atlanta.
The SEC continued to dominate the Top 25 with the Vols and Tigers joined by Kentucky, No. 6 Alabama and No. 7 Florida in giving the league five of the top seven. Kansas moved up two spots to No. 8 while Marquette and Oregon rounded out the top 10.
Two-time defending national champion UConn jumped seven spots to No. 11 after beating then-No. 8 Gonzaga. The Huskies were followed by Texas A&M, the Bulldogs, the Sooners and Houston, which remained at No. 15.
Purdue dropped five spots to No. 16 after its loss to the Aggies, and was followed by Ole Miss, UCLA, Cincinnati and Michigan State. Dayton entered the poll for the first time this season at No. 22, just behind Memphis, which returned after its win over Clemson. Wisconsin dropped out after its loss to Illinois while Mississippi State fell out after a narrow win over McNeese State.
San Diego State, Michigan and Clemson round out the Top 25.
The San Francisco 49ers suspended linebacker De’Vondre Campbell for the rest of the regular season Monday after he refused to enter a game after losing his starting job.
The news came four days after Campbell’s refusal to go into a game against the Los Angeles Rams was decried by coaches and teammates as a “selfish” act. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Campberll would no longer be part of the team, with the only question whether that would be by a suspension or an outright release.
The team opted for the suspension. The Collective Bargaining Agreement allows teams to suspend a player for up to four games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team and fine them one week’s pay.
