POWERBALL WINNER IN WAUPACA
How does multiplying your lottery winnings by 10 sound? It happened in Waupaca Monday night. A winning $500,000 Powerball ticket was sold at Kwik Trip at 226 West Fulton Street. The ticket included a $1 Power Play add-on option turning a $50,000 winning ticket into a $500,000 win because of the 10X multiplier. The ticket matched four of five numbers, 6-18-33-48-53 and the Powerball 21. The 10X multiplier is only available when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less. When the jackpot is $150 million or more, the highest multiplier possible for Power Play is 5X. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, a 10X multiplier for the Powerball game has been drawn 21 times since 2006.
SCHOOL AID DISPARITY
It’s estimated over the past few years 87 percent of the school districts in Wisconsin have staged an operational referendum. State Senator Joan Ballweg says she’s not surprised. She says they have increased state funding over the years, but the equalization formula is based on property values which is why you have such disparity for instance Green Lake receiving nothing while the Milwaukee School District gets over 80 percent of their costs. The state lawmaker from Pardeeville says they try and make up some of the difference with categorical aid through sparsity aid, transportation aid, and for special education. Ballweg says no matter how they try to revise the equalization formula it wouldn’t change the aid to local school districts much.

OCI ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS
Wisconsin’s Office of the Commissioner of Insurance took administrative action against 40 insurance agents, three companies, and one entity in October. The actions are issued when licensing applicants, or licensed individuals or companies have violated Wisconsin insurance statutes or regulations. Any forfeitures paid are deposited in Wisconsin’s Common School Fund administered by the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands. Earnings from the Fund are distributed to all public K-12 schools in the state and are used by school libraries to purchase materials such as books, newspapers, and computers. Karrieann Sell of North Fond du Lac was among the agents administrative action was taken against. Her insurance license was revoked based on allegations of owing delinquent Wisconsin taxes.
