10/24/24 Fire Destroys FDL Auto Shop

Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue responded to a report of smoke in the area of 322 North Military Road at 11:46 last night. When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the garage doors of an auto shop that was attached to other businesses. Fire companies gained access to the fire by cutting an access hole to get water on the fire. Once opened there was heavy fire and smoke inside the auto shop. The fire was brought under control after about 90 minutes. The auto shop and its contents are considered a total loss. An attached building sustained smoke and water damage, and four vehicles parked right outside of the shop were also damaged. The cause and origin of the fire are being determined. Six other fire departments and an ambulance service provided mutual aid.
