FOOD PRODUCTS CAREFULLY SCRUTINIZED
It may seem like there are constant recalls for food products, but Fond du Lac County’s Public Health Officer says that because of careful testing and scrutiny by the producers. Kim Mueller says the Fond du Lac County Health Department plays a role in informing the public about food products they may have on their shelves or in their refrigerators that may not be safe. She says sometimes a product may contain Ecoli, Salmonella, or Listeria which will make you sick. Other times it’s because a foreign matter or allergen was accidentally introduced into the product. She says most recalls are voluntarily and caught by the producer through testing. Mueller says producers would rather play it safe and recall multiple batches rather than a specific batch to avoid making anyone sick.
