10/23/24 Barn Fire Near Campbellsport

A barn was damaged by fire last night at W3543 State Highway 67 in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Ashford. At 9:18 pm a passing motorist called 911 to report a wood pile on fire next to a barn west of Campbellsport. Sheriff’s deputies, Campbellsport Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched. When firefighters arrived the fire had spread to the barn. Eden and Lomira Fire Departments, and the RIT 4 team were asked to assist. Campbellsport Fire was able to extinguish the fire before it could spread throughout the barn. The blaze damaged a wood pile, the side of the barn, and the barn’s roof. Kenneth Gudex owns the property. He told deputies he had a controlled burn earlier in the day. He extinguished it with water, but it likely rekindled near the wood pile. No one was injured during the fire.
