Neenah Police say a nail was found in three candy bars on Halloween. The police department tweeted about the Halloween incident, saying a nail was found in three Kit Kat bars during trick-or-treating. Police say this is the only report of its kind. The department said more information would be released after noon on Wednesday. Police are asking people to report any similar findings to them by calling 886-6000. Neenah had a similar incident in 2016. A parent found a nail pushed into a piece of candy her daughter received during trick-or-treating. The publicity surrounding that discovery led other parents to come forward with reports of suspicious items in candy. The items were sent to the State Crime Lab. Meanwhile, According to Freedom Police, a social media post about tainted candy in Freedom has been determined to be a hoax. according to Freedom Police. The department says it’s an “ill-advised prank and there is no legitimate complaints at this time.”

A Wisconsin woman is facing charges after her 9-year-old son was tied to the roof of their minivan to help hold down a plastic pool. Prosecutors allege 28-year-old Amber Schmunk had her son hold down the molded pool they’d just purchased because it wouldn’t fit inside the van. WISN-TV reports a witness called police after seeing the incident on Sept. 9 in Saukville, about 20 miles north of Milwaukee. Police documents allege Schmunk told an officer she thought it was OK because her father allowed her to do similar things when she was young. Schmunk is charged with recklessly endangering safety, which is a felony. She’s due in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Nov. 11. Court records don’t list an attorney who could speak on her behalf.

One crash on I-41 in Winnebago County on Tuesday night led to a second crash on the interstate. The second crash killed a Fond du Lac man. Winnebago County Sheriff says it started just before 6 p.m. in 41’s southbound lanes, about three miles south of Oshkosh. A woman was hurt when her SVU rolled into a farm field after she hit a semi. About 25 minutes later, there was a second crash. A car rear-end a semi that was slowing down for traffic that was backed up after the first crash. The name of the Fond du Lac man has not been released.

University of Madison officials say there is no threat to the campus after a report of a gunman at the school’s law library Wednesday. Police gave the campus the all clear, according to an alert sent out by the school and campus police. The school had urged everyone on campus to find a safe location while they investigated reports of a gunman at the law library at 975 Bascom Mall. The investigation is continuing.
