9 October 2024 News
Dodge County Sheriff’s officials have arrested a 56-year-old Reeseville man for homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle following a fatal accident Sunday afternoon in the Town of Lowell. Gregory Moritz was driving a pickup truck north on Baker Road and approached the stop sign at County Road GI, when he failed to stop for a stop sign. He lost control and the truck went into a spin and struck the ditch, overturning multiple times. It came to rest in a ditch near County Road I. Moritz was seen by EMS at the scene and arrested for his sixth OWI offense. His passenger, 87-year-old Ralph Finkler of Reeseville was flown to the UW Hospital in Madison where he died. Moritz was subsequently charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Neither Moritz nor Finkler were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
