10/2/24 Vice President Harris Expected to Visit Ripon

2 October 2024 News

Vice-President Kamala Harris is expected to make a stop at Ripon College Thursday afternoon. An email sent from Ripon College President Victoria Folse to students and staff said all classes, academic and extracurricular activities on the upper campus will be cancelled tomorrow, as are afternoon classes and events on the lower campus. The campus was the site of a stop by Republican Vice-President Mike Pence four years ago. The Harris campaign earlier this week sent out an advisory that Harris would be visiting the Fox Valley Thursday from 3 to 6 pm. Specific information will be released later today. Meanwhile Ripon Police Tuesday posted information on their Facebook page about street closures, not citing a specific reason. According to that information traffic closures and parking restrictions begin tonight. Ransom Street between State Street and Seward Street will be closed with a partial closure beginning at noon today. Woodside Avenue will be closed between Thorne Street and Seward Street. Elm Street will be closed between State Street and Congress Street. Congress Street will be closed between Elm Street and Locust Street. Parking will not be allowed on the Upper Ransom Street Municipal Parking lot. Additional parking restrictions may occur on Blackburn Street and East Jackson Street. This is Harris’s fifth visit to Wisconsin since launching her campaign in July.
