9/30/24 Silo Fire in FDL County

Firefighters responded to a silo fire at W6216 Lost Arrow Road in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Byron this morning. At 6:33 am the property owner called the County’s Communication Center about the fire. Deputies, Oakfield Fire Department and First Responders were initially dispatched. Upon arrival fire crews and deputies saw smoke coming from the silo. Fire crews were able to limit the fire to the silo. The 70-foot silo was filled with approximately $20,000 worth of feed, which was destroyed. No other damage was done to any of the surrounding structures. The fire is not considered suspicious. Assisting fire departments included Fond du Lac, Town of Fond du Lac, Town of Calumet, Eden, Lamartine, Campbellsport, Mt. Calvary, and Brownsville. Alliant Energy also responded.
