After an off-day Monday the Brewers are at Pittsburgh tonight for a three-game series against the Pirates. RHP Tobias Myers (8-6, 3:05 ERA) will go for the Brewers against Pirates LHP Bailey Falter (8-8, 4:15 ERA). First pitch is at 5:40 CDT.
In the only game Monday in the NL Central the Phillies beat the Cubs 6-2 at Citizens Park. In the process, Philadephia clinched their first NL East title in 13 years.
The Packers (2-1) are off today before getting ready for a big Northern Division showdown with the Vikings (3-0) Sunday at Lambeau Field. Green Bay has won two straight after losing their opener and their starting quarterback Jordan Love. But, backup Malik Willis has not committed a turnover as he’s guided the Packers to two victories after being picked up from Tennessee on August 26th for a seventh round draft pick in 2025.
Love suffered a sprained MCL but may be ready to be cleared against Minnesota.
There were two games in Monday Night Football. The Buffalo Bills scored on their first six drives, including touchdowns on the Bills’ five first-half possessions, and jumped out to a 34-3 lead by halftime in in a 47-10 mauling of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Buffalo’s Josh Allen completed 23 of 30 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns and rushed eight times for 44 yards as the Bills dominated the Jaguars.
Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence was 21 of 38 for 178 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
The Bills improve to 3-0 while the Jaguars fell to 0-3.
In the other game, Jayden Daniels and the Washington Redskins beat the Bengals 38-33 in Cincinnati. Daniels completed 21 of 33 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns, one to an offensive lineman. Terry McLaurin caught four passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. .
The Bengals Joe Burrow completed 29 of 38 for 324 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another score.
Cincinnati falls to 0-3 while Washington improves to 2-1.
The Chicago Cubs claimed right-handed reliever Enoli Paredes off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.
Paredes, who turns 29 on Saturday, went 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA and one save in 17 relief appearances with the Brewers. He dealt with a right forearm issue earlier this season that caused him to spend over two months on the injured list.
The Cubs also recalled right-handers Gavin Hollowell and Caleb Kilian from Triple-A Iowa before the opener of a three-game series at Philadelphia. Right-hander Jorge López was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain, and right-hander Trey Wingenter was optioned to the Arizona Complex League.
The 31-year-old López signed with Chicago after he was released by the New York Mets in June. He is 1-1 with a 2.03 ERA and two saves in 24 appearances with the Cubs.
The Brewers designated Paredes for assignment Friday when they called up right-hander Kevin Herget from Triple-A Nashville.
Paredes has a 4-3 record with a 3.06 ERA, 51 strikeouts, one save and 41 walks over 53 innings in 54 career major league appearances, all in relief. He pitched for the Houston Astros from 2020-22.
The Cubs had an opening on their 40-man roster after they designated right-hander Shawn Armstrong for assignment last week.
